Hi Friends! This is a song I wrote in the late 1970's! It is about my Grandfather Earl O "Dixie" Minor who was born in 1900 in Williamston S.C., and passed away in the spring of 1969 in New Hampshire. I was 10 years old at the time. He had quite an influence on my life as well as many, many other people he met along the way. Including of course my Mother Marlene, her Sister Joan, his wife (and my Nana) Clyde "Hart" Minor, my two Sisters Joan and Marianne, and of course the "O'Boyle" family my Cousins, who reside in Charlotte N.C.. Especially my older Cousins, including the late Johnny.and Irene, Jim, Tom, and Larry, and younger cousins Joe and Anne and Maureen who were also very close to Grampa! Tim and Pat the youngest O'Boyles surely would have been the apples of his eyes. Of course this list includes my father Joe and my Uncle Jerry! We enjoyed many care free summers together on the side of Cherry Mt. playing and waiting for Grampa to get home from work. I am sure my cousins would agree that these times were the best! I wrote some more verses for this version which was originally recorded on CD and mixed and mastered by Jerry Holden of "Angel Baby Studios" and TYAD Records Inc. Thanks for work on the original Jerry! The song was re-recorded with the new verses and sang by my daughters Ashley and Jessica! I am playing my Guild D-25 and using my Honer "Blues" Harp in "C". I am posting this song as an 80th birthday present to my mother Marlene "Minor" Vaughan who has kept Grampa's memory alive through her poems, writing, music, and photography.! Happy Birthday Mom! We love you!
